Canada introduces new Visa Opportunities for US H-1B Visa Holders.
Initially Canada allowed certain foreign nationals from an exemption from the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations, enabling them to apply for a work permit lasting up to three years.
Although this policy was intended to remain in effect until July 15, 2024, it was terminated early on July 17, 2023, after the application limit of 10,000 was reached.
A new policy, effective from December 16, 2023, to December 16, 2026, allows foreign nationals in Canada who were initially issued a work permit for less than three years to renew their permits. This ensures they can take advantage of the full three-year maximum duration permitted under the H-1B public policies.
These policies are a fantastic opportunity for H-1B visa holders and their families. If you’re eligible, make sure to take advantage of these changes. For more detailed information, you can visit the official Canadian immigration website or consult with an immigration expert.
