📑 USCIS has received sufficient petitions to meet the congressionally mandated caps for FY 2025: 65,000 H-1B visas under the regular cap and 20,000 under the U.S. advanced degree exemption (master’s cap).

Non-selection notices will be sent to registrants via their online accounts in the coming days. Once all notifications have been issued, the status for properly submitted registrations not selected for FY 2025 will display:

Not Selected: Not eligible to file an H-1B cap petition based on this registration.

USCIS will continue to accept and process petitions exempt from the cap, including those for current H-1B workers previously counted under the cap and who retain their cap numbers. These petitions may include requests to:

Extend the duration of a current H-1B worker’s stay in the U.S.
Modify the terms of employment for current H-1B workers.
Allow current H-1B workers to switch employers.
Permit current H-1B workers to take on additional concurrent H-1B positions.
The H-1B program enables U.S. businesses to hire foreign workers in specialty occupations. Petitioners are encouraged to visit the H-1B Cap Season page and subscribe for email updates about the H-1B cap season.
